Recently I was sent a copy of American Farmer: The Heart of Our Country . When I opened the package and saw the big, colorful, beautiful book with a farmer holding a rooster on the cover, I knew this was going to be something special.
As I turned the pages more breath taking photographs appeared. What I saw was so familiar. I could see my Grandfather. I could see my Father.

Through out the whole book I could see my husband. I could see myself and our sons.

I believe people from all walks of life should read and see this book. It shows real life. It tells real life right from the mouth of these hard working farmers who feed America.
I know after you see and read The American Farmer: The Heart of Our Country you will feel a sense of pride of our country's farmers, as I did.
The words in the book are the words of the farmers. Words that share the love of a way of life. A love of the land. A love of family.
On page 64 the words of farmer Pat Hardy express the feelings so well. Feelings that I also share.
"I have an alarm clock but I'm usually awake before it goes off. It's nothing to be up at six in the morning--the three boys, they're kind of the same way. We like to smell the air before somebody else breathes it."
"This is my life. Yeah, nothing else. And it's just a great life."

Sounds like a neat book!
We both did a post on hay-and named it the same thing! Great minds think alike uh? Yours was really great-loved the pictures.
My grandfather used to say "You have to get up in the morning to breathe the really good air before it is all gone" ..sounds like an interesting book:)
It does look like a beautifully illustrated book. I love the books about true American farmers. There is a flyer in our local Sunday paper about once a month but I bet it doesn't compare to the book....
That looks like a beautiful book, Pam. I love photos of people living their lives. You get such a feel for who they are.
Thanks for sharing with us.
Hi Pam, you and farm man do actually sit down from time to time?! The book sounds great but I have to say we read the American farm, story on your blog every day!
Best Wishes
Peggy
Sounds like a wonderful book! I love it when we can share something special like a book or a movie or a TV documentary--something that has touched us and we know will touch others in remarkable ways! (Especially books--I'm partial to books!) :-)

That does sound like a neat book. And I like the 'breathing the air before everyone else does' comment. Makes me want to get up early!
