I have a confession. I have a little bit of trouble with making a loaf of bread in my bread machine.
This is what the last loaf looked like.
The bread went flat. But I thought maybe it might still taste good.
I decided to let FarmMan sample the bread.
He seems to be sound asleep. Poor fellow. Must be tired.
I see BoDog in the front yard.
Maybe he would like a piece.
Hmmm, I guess BoDog just isn't hungry right now.
There's Lionel. Surely he would like a piece of homemade bread.
Hmmm. Lionel must not be a bread eater.
Wait just a minute. I see the guineas at the barn. Surely they would like some bread.
Wait guinea, one more bite.... It really is good bread.
Good girl Annie, I knew you would like it.
and you too White Ears.
I have another confession. Annie or White Ears didn't really eat their bread.
Oh well. I can make a biscuit though. After 33 years I have biscuit making down pat.
I suppose we will remain biscuit eaters here on the farm until I practice a little more on the bread machine.
Have a great day!

That is too funny. I would have loved a video of that. Hilarious.
I'm right there with you on this one, Pam... I can nail biscuits every time, but for some reason I have some sort of loaf deficiency when it comes to baking bread...
Oh goodness gracious, LOL! My Mom had no problems making bread in her bread machine in the past though and either has my sister!
Pam...that was THE saddest little loaf of bread I have ever seen in my life. However, the biscuits looked gooood.
I am laughing so hard! This post of yours was just so funny. And poor Farm Man. He's always working on something...let the guy sleep, ok?
Those bisquits look amazing! If you turn your bake, would you notice if I stole one away?
Or maybe, two?

Hi pam, I love the new heading layout. My daughter got a present of a bread maker and used it once or twice. Her husband decided to give it a go and is making great bread for the last few months! He is even doing his own recipes, makes a spiced bread which is lovely with homemade jam. All I know about it, is it takes about 3 hours altogether! Could you have a faulty machine?
Peggy
This was a delightfully funny post. I keep telling my newly married daughter that we all get our baking flops - even after many years at it. My attempts at bread were even worse - but I didn't have a machine. Yours must be faulty! Great post!
I would love your biscuit recipe!
Your biscuits are incredible!!!
I make bread about 4 times a week in my machine. It's all about the texture of the dough ball. For the first 10 minutes you need to keep an eye on it to make sure it is clean form the sides and not sticking to the bottom. If it s add more flour. If it is making a knocking sound and just not coming together add a tiny bit of water at a time to get it right! It is all about practice!
I do better making bread by hand, I have bought TWO 2 bread machines in my life to have them go bad or never work properly.
You comments were great though, thanks for the laugh!

I like all your new pictures at the top of your blog!
And I'm glad that bread isn't the easiest thing to make. A friend of mine sends me her homemade sourdough bread every couple months or so and I'm always glad that I don't have to make it!!!
And I think everybody just needs ONE thing that they can cook really well. Yours is obviously biscuits, b/c those look fabulous.
My mom has trouble with her breadmaker sometimes too. She says to add a little more water, and that helps it stay up.
How funny....poor farm man - how did he sleep through your flash? :-)
You know, Pam, you're so incredibly good at so many, many things..it's really ok to have one area that still needs some work. Really! :-) lol
This is hilarious!!! Someone suggested mixing the dough in the bread machine and then baking it in the conventional oven. Usually it doesn't get brown enough in the machine....not sure why yours went flat. Maybe your yeast was old????
HOWEVER....I canNOT make biscuits and I am pea green with envy! Check out my Mom's blog Life in Wakefield or maybe her other one, Moments of Joy--she did a post on making biscuits that was really cute. Anyway, WHAT is your secret!!!?
You are too funny! Goats will eat ALMOST anything! Loved the story, the biscuits look great:)
Don't feel bad.....Biscuits are better anyway Pam!
:) Tracey
Absolutely hilarious! I could certainly do with a couple of those biscuits this morning--they look delicious. (Going to go wtih the animals and pass on the bread, though LOL)
Well, I can make a great loaf of bread but have never managed to make good biscuits and it isn't for lack of trying! My biscuits are always crumbly and a bit dry. Maybe we can trade lessons.
Thanks everyone for taking time to stop by and comment.
I appreciate it.
Pam
Your biscuits make me homesick!
Here in England a biscuit is a cookie and the closest thing they have to a biscuit is a scone.
This transplanted Georgia girl might need your recipe
soon if you're willing to share.
