To Walk on a Tree

Last spring FarmMan cut some of the trees from the back of the property to use for lumber on different projects around the farm.

He sawed the logs on the farm's sawmill

Some of the lumber was used on the chicken house

Some for other things like the truck side bodies

Some of the boards were stacked in the summer heat to dry

and later the boards were stacked in the barn loft to finish drying.

Now FarmMan is busy again with the boards

and soon they will be floors in the farmhouse.

These are oak boards FarmMan had cut years ago for the kitchen.

We hope to start on the upstairs floors in the next week or so. And...I will have pictures, of course, along the way.

It is a long hard process from a tree to a floor. But so worth it!

Have a great day!

Interesting to follow the long process from tree to floor through your pictures. Your kitchen floor is so very pretty. I look forward to following along. Hope you both have a good day.

What a beautiful floor!! I do know how satisfying that it to take something from your own land and create something so wonderful with it. Not a feeling many people discover anymore.

Can't wait to see the upstairs flooring :)

Just beautiful! We love wood floors and as soon as we get our outside building up to snuff we will be starting on the inside of the house! Take care Pam!

Your husband is very talented. I'm in awe of anybody that can make and do anything by hand like that. Not many people nowadays want to do everything by hand. They just hire it done. Great job! Can't wait to see the upstairs!

You and FarmMan are amazing! What a feeling of pride you two must have every single day. You two are self made & self sustaining. What an incredible accomplishment!

I am in envy of your floors. I have been trying for 20 years to get my husband to cut some big poplars for some nice floors. Can I borrow your hubby for about a month? I need a chicken pen, dog pen, goat pen. Sounds like I need the whole farm. We did get the fence up around 6 of the acres.
You guys are sure self sufficient and very creative!!

Once again you two just amaze me. For those skills to be passed down to generations.... I wish my husband and son knew men like that. Simply amazing.

That is so neat! To go from a tree to your barn, truck sides and now your floor. I love it! How awesome to say you did it all. And can I tell you I think it's fabulous that your farm has a saw mill! Good luck with the upstairs floor installation. If it's a gorgeous as the kitchen floor, it will be spectacular.

I am always amazed at the ingenuity and hard work you and your hubby do around your farm.
How wonderful to walk around and ON all the handsome, and beautiful creations that he and you have built with your own hands, too.
